Yeah people would bring that up occasionally! Antis didn’t care though lol
Also if YOI was a typical high school sports anime, Otabek would be a 3rd year and Yurio would be a first year. I would see anti-Otayuris with 3rd year/1st year ships from other school anime all the time, I kid you not. Like from Haikyuu especially Kiyoyachi, and I even saw an anti-Otayuri once who shipped Oikage. It’s mind-blowing
Antis are slowly starting to get angry with the more mainstream/published/professional things, yeah. I saw one go after a YA author for writing teenager sex scenes a little while ago
@discoursecatharsis I’ve brought this up before, but Sailor Moon would have the antis on edge if they learned about the true nature of Usagi’s and Mamoru’s relationship.
YET! There is NO outcry over a middle school student going out with someone in college. I mean, the last season, Usagi barely enters high school. And in that season Mamoru was supposed to go overseas to further his studies. Something you really only do in the LATER years of college.
Though you can see the ages in the wikis and know how this WASN’T a problem at all FOR YEARS. And really still isn’t today.
That shows you that the antis are really young and haven’t gone into past fiction that made it big before they were born. EVERYONE knows Sailor Moon. It was one of the first animes to debut here in the west.
But they miss that Usagi was about 14 falling in love with someone about to graduate high school and going into college in seasons one and two.
But I have the theory it’s all because of how these sailor scouts LOOKED. They all look about 18. They don’t have young ‘chibi’ features beside Chibi-usa. But even SHE in the forth season, looks much older to fall in love with the person she does. People even ship her with them and they don’t even know his real age.
And yet…there is NO outcry or people shouting “pedophilia”!
Ironic isn’t it?
But yeah, shows you just how YOUNG antis are and how much they DON’T KNOW. Eager to stand on a soap box and preach to the world. It’s fucking gross and they need to be put back in a play pen.
Once I saw an anti with the name “Usagi” in their url. They had an Usagi icon and answered all their asks with Usagi gifs. When someone inevitably approached them about Usagi x Mamoru, they got very defensive like “um i never said I shipped them! I just like Sailor Moon!” and it’s so confusing how they can enjoy the series given that this canon romance the main character is in is a pretty prominent part of the story. Yet they hated Otayuri (a ship with a 2.5 year age gap between a 15-almost-16 year old and a newly-18 year old). It was the strangest thing
If I had a dollar for every “anti-fujoshi” I saw who shit on fujoshi for shipping Sheith and Otayuri, when she’s over there shipping Klance and Victuri, I could pay off my student loans
Okay seriously, what’s the deal with Mo Dao Zu Shi. My dumbass honest to god thought it was an anime, I knew the title was in Chinese, but I just assumed it was an anime adaptation lol. Then I saw the PV 5 minutes ago and was like “oh shit they’re actually speaking Chinese.” It’s from a Chinese studio I see, but like… where does it air/premiere? Where are people watching it?
It’s a Chinese BL novel (currently being translated by Exiled Rebels) that got a unfortunately somewhat censored anime/donghua this season.
I’ve been getting quite a few asks about the process for the patterns in my stylized artworks, so I decided to put together a couple of tips regarding them.
Firstly, what you need are
— CUSTOM BRUSHES —
Most of the patterns I use are custom brushes I made, such as those:
For the longest time I was convinced making brushes must be super extra complicated. I was super extra wrong. All you need to start is a transparent canvas (2500px x 2500px max):
This will be your brush tip. When you’re satisfied how it looks, click Ctrl+A to select the whole canvas and go to ‘define brush preset’ under the edit menu
You will be asked to name your new glorious creation. Choose something that describes it well, so you can easily find it between all the ‘asfsfgdgd’ brushes you’ve created to be only used once
This is it. Look at it, you have just created a photoshop brush. First time i did I felt like I was cheated my whole life. IT’S SO EASY WHY HASN’T ANYONE TOLD ME
Time to edit the Good Boi to be more random, so it can be used as a Cool Fancy Pattern. Go into brush settings and change whatever you’d like. Here’s a list of what I do for patterns:
– under Shape Dynamics, I increase Size Jitter and Angle jitter by 5%-15%
– under Brush Tip Shape, I increase spacing by a shitload. Sometimes it’s like 150%, the point is to get the initial brush tip we painted to be visible.
– If I want it to look random and noisy, I enable the Dual Brush option, which acts like another brush was put on top of the one we’ve created. You can adjust all of the Dual Brush options (Size, Spacing, Scatter, Count) as you wish to get a very nice random brush to smear on your backgrounds
The result is as above. You can follow the same steps to create whatever brush you need: evenly spaced dots that look like you painted them by hand, geometric pattern to fill the background, a line of perfectly drawn XDs and so on.
BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE
— PATHS —
But what if you want to get lots of circles made of tiny dots? Or you need rows of triangles for your cool background? Photoshop can do all of that for you, thanks to the magic of paths.
Typically, paths window can be found right next to Layers:
Draw whatever path you want, the Shape Tool has quite a bit of options. Remember, paths are completely different from brush strokes and they won’t show up in the navigator. To move a path around, click A to enable path selection tool. You can use Ctrl+T to transform it, and if you move a path while pressing Alt it will be duplicated.
Now, pick a brush you wish really was in place of that path you’ve drawn and go to layers, then choose the layer you want it to be drawn on. Then, click this tiny circle under the Paths window:
Then witness the magic of photoshop doing the drawing for you while you wonder how tf have you managed to forget about this option for the past 2 years
You can combine special brushes and paths for all sorts of cool effects. I mostly use them in backgrounds for my cards, but you can do whatever you want with them.
I hope that answers the questions for all of the people who were sending me inquires about the patterns. If you have any questions regarding this or any other Photoshop matter feel free to message me, I’m always up for complaining about how great and terrible Photoshop is C’:
Wiping our fingers — greasy from the oil — on our t-shirts.
