i saw this post earlier about therapists and it reminded me of my old therapist paul, who in my opinion is one of the greatest men alive and who did not put up with my bullshit for even one second

anyway i go in to see paul one week in the summer of 2016, and i’m doing my usual bullshit which consists of me talking shit about myself, and paul is staring at me, and then he cuts me off and says that he’s got a new tool for helping people recognize when they’re using negative language, and gets up and goes over to his desk

and i’m like alright hit me with that sweet sweet self-help article my man, because i’m a linguistic learner and whenever paul’s like here i have a tool for you to use it’s pretty much always an article or a book or something

paul opens a drawer, takes something out, and turns back around. i stare.

i say, paul.

is that a nerf gun.

yeah, says paul.

i say, are you gonna shoot me with a nerf gun in this professional setting.

he happily informs me that that’s really up to me, isn’t it. and sits back down. and gestures, like, go ahead, what were you saying?

and i squint suspiciously and start back up about how i’m having too much anxiety to leave the house to run errands, like it was a miracle to even get here, like i’ve forgone getting groceries for the past week and that’s so stupid, what a stupid issue, i’m an idiot, how could i–

a foam dart hits me in the leg.

i go, hey! because my therapist just shot me in the leg. paul blinks at me placidly and raises an eyebrow. i squint again.

i say, slowly, it’s– not a stupid issue, i’m not stupid, but it’s frustrating me and i don’t want it to be a problem i’m having.

no dart this time. okay. sweet.

so the rest of the hour passes with me intermittently getting nailed with tiny foam darts and then swearing and then fixing my language and, wouldn’t you know it, i start liking myself a little more by the end of the session, which is mildly infuriating because paul can tell and he’s very smug about it 

anyway i leave his office and the lady having the next appointment walks in and i hear what’s all over the floor? and paul very seriously says cognitive behavioral therapy tools.

The “I won’t hesitate, bitch” vine but @ friends who don’t love themselves

I doubt it, victuuri fans are hypocrites, they’ll just continue to pretend everything in YOI is healthy and pure except Otayuri and yurio. I saw someone said “yurio expressing himself sexually is different from the fandom sexualizing him”. As if the character had free will and could object to the animators drawing him stripping….Basically they don’t care if yurio is used for fanservice in the show, they like being condescending to otayuri shippers and hating on the ship, and that’s what they will continue to do. 

At least they didn’t spend their budget on Katsuki and victor’s ugly mug this time

I’m happy for otayuri shippers tbh, they can now say to victuuri shippers “It’s the show which sexualises yuri p, not the fandom”. The fandom merely reflect canon portrayal. Victuuri fans want people to feel bad about shipping otayuri, but really if you can bring yourself to admit you like a manservice show like YOI, why would you feel bad about shipping otayuri?

Tch. Victor is the biggest fanservice character in the show. It’s rich af for Victuuri shippers to act like they have problem with manservice. 

I didn’t expect Victuuri to be so petty tbh. If you want to keep a Fujobait franchise alive, you need to cater to multiple ships. I know a lot of people who didn’t care about YOI as a series liked Yuri P. and were just waiting for a character to ship him with, this was way before Otabek showed up. The studio have a perfectly fine classic bishonen character, and people were upset they tried to milk some fujobuck off his character?? really??

Also, Otayuri reaches a segment of shippers Victuuri cannot. MAPPA would be hella dumb not to monetize Otayuri. It’s remarkable they’re so popular despite not being given much screentime. 

Fanservice aside, the PV is pretty cool. It sums up Yuri P.’s character, such elegant exterior, but he’s a punkass really.

Edit: I just saw victuuri trying to convince themselves Otayuri will not get a pair skate LOL. It’s painfully obvious victuuri shippers are mainly on board the hype train to feel superior to other ships and other fandoms

To be completly honest…

Otayuri is WAY superior to viktuuri.

– start as a friendship

– equal ground (with otabek looking up to yuri’s determination and yuri having a friend that sees him for who he is and that fits with the cool friend i want to be like VS you were always my idol / i have a drunk crush on u)

– actually seem to evolve (yuuri still thinks viktor is just gonna leave by the end, thats no way for a relationship to be)

– not co-dependent (yuuri cant skate without viktor there, talk about co-dependency)

The list goes on. One day ill make a full one.

Point being: not only are shitty viktuuri fans assholes they dont have much of a platform to stand on…

Oh. And ya aint that revolutionary. Its another fuckin bl/shounen ai. Deal with it.

Well, they think it’s “representation” when everything concerning victuuri is open to interpretation, when every romantic gesture is played for laughs or denied by the main character in show. 

I still remember this massive post on why YOI is a sport anime in which the main characters who happen to be gay, while haikyuu and Kurobas are queerbaiting. That fucking nerves…..I wish I could block everyone who reblogged that freaking post. There isn’t even enough sport in YOI to call it a sport anime. When YOI fans find it impossible to defend the show as sport anime, they switch their argument to “it focuses on romance”, but they’d still struggle to defend why the show has more fanservice than unambiguous romance (fujobaits don’t count as romance).

I too find it ironic YOI fans look down at yaoi when they clearly enjoy the sexualization of male characters in YOI. They act like they desperately care “canon gay couple”, but they’re actually disdainful of yaoi in which the couples are absolutely more canon than victuuri. 

I don’t think they care about canon gay couple, if that’s what they care, doukyuusei would’ve exploded on tumblr instead of YOI. The movie actually acknowledges the low key homophobia, the characters are clearly portrayed as in a romantic relationship for the majority of the movie. The characters are average highschool students, there’s no superstar skater magically show up at the MC’s door, the characters have the humility to admit they don’t know shit about each other. Everything in doukyuusei make better and more realistic representation than YOI. 

But that’s also what makes doukyuusei less self-insert friendly for these straight girls. Acknowledgement of homophobia would be clearly awkward and unnecessary for media targeted at straight women. It’s not something they find relevant in their own romantic fantasy. Neither Sajou or kusakabe is famous, there’s no sensational and flashy stuff like a proposal on intentional TV to gratify these women’s absurd ego. The couple have the nerves to say they don’t know anything about each other also doesn’t fit with these women’s fantasy. They want a ship they can rub it into others’ face how perfect and healthy it is, how it’s better than other ships.
