The Boy and the wolf by Z-PICO
You and I.
YOI ep 8 (Mello parallells & some other stuff)
so I got a request to keep doing these (I was gonna to anyway c; )
But yes! A pretty heavy Yuri Plisentsky episode we got!!And hasn’t he gotten more.. dare I say .. Mellow?
Despite still being angry; He’s keeping it more to himself. He’s putting that energy inwards instead of lashing out, it seems.it’s getting clearer and clearer that he’s not just an angry kid – the anger comes from stress that he puts on himself. The scene where he can’t even hear his coaches? He’s so wrapped up in his own mind to even hear anyone else. (which I of course think is a mello way of handling it. If we watch death note, in their first arc (orphanage) Mello’s fully focused on Near. He just has to /beat him/. but even though as his goal stays the same, somewhere he realises that he won’t beat Near at being Near. and that he won’t beat him by focusing on him; he realises that what he needs to do to beat him is to focus on himself. which is incidentally what I’m think Yuri is going through).
also just the picture of angrily skating a programme that’s supposed to be sincere and calm – and still pulling it off on only will-power, is such a mello thing too.
but its not true sincerity or agape so it’ll probably be his downfall in the end. im just gonna put this out there- Yuri will probably place second or something and ye. the parallells write themselves. ALSO him not taking well-meant praise and good-lucks’ from others.
ON OTHER NOTES:
wasn’t it weird how Yuri said ‘the performance has already begun’ when he was standing in the rink almost kissing Victor. like?? isn’t that saying that their relationship is part of the performance or…
okay just watched episode 7, don’t have any mello parallells.
HOWEVER.
am i the only one seeing the potential angst of this? I just think it’s such a great possibility that what Victor is attracted to is not Yuri himself, but to whatever game they’re playing. The way Yuri reflects upon him as a coach – the way that they can be unpredictable together. like what he said wasn’t ‘ I coulnd’t wait to to that’ he said ‘ I couldn’t wait to surprise you like you surprised me’
Yuri is always fighting for his attention, and whenever he succeeds in being unpredictable, Victor rewards him.
like unf i just like this feeling I get that Victor is doing anything to further his own agenda and playing the game ; and I don’t think that Yuri is unaware of it either. this may just be my obsession with reading into really sad themes into everything. (like this whole thing of everyone trying to win Victor back to the ice, and yuri trying to keep him solely as his coach. i dunno, i just like the implications.).
ye i hope noone takes this the wrong way haha, you can read whatever you like into the characters. I just like making everything sad and emotional manipulative
yoi episode 5 (i think it was episode 5)
here’s some more Yuri / Mells parallells. spoilers i guess:
When you see Yuri on the second pedestal and he’s not even angry anymore, he’s just sad and disappointed in himself. I can really imagine mello going through similar phases; when the anger just isn’t enough. it doesn’t get him anything.
and like we all know that he hates himself in that moment. that he’s so angry with himself for placing /merely/ second, despite it being a good placement for someone’s debut.
it just broke my heart because it looked like he was about to cry. he probably cried himself to sleep afterwards, if he even got any sleep at all.
just watched the fourth episode of Yuri on Ice and hell ye does Yuri Plisetsky have some parallells to Mello. It’s practically like Yuri is just Mells in a ice-skating AU.
First: Most of Death Note fans headcanons Mello as Russian, to the point where I’d even forgotten that it’s not really in canon.
Then there’s his design which is like spot on? The only thing we miss is the bangs, and I’m almost convinced they didn’t do bangs because then it would’ve been ‘’too’’ obvious.
Third, can we talk about this qoute?:
“If selling my soul it’s all it takes to win, I’ll give you my whole body. No holds barred “ <- that right there is something Mello would’ve said. So attitude also checks out.AND the whole BALLERINA THING? Oh god, lord almighty that made me happy.
now we just have to wait for the other Whammy kids to show up. Oh, let there be a redhead freckled slacker who smokes.

i started this when there was a heat wave and even i was dying.
it’s always summer in my drawings anyway.
