FOTR Soundtrack – “A Knife in the Dark” (Adûnaic Translation)

lordoftherings-timesinfinity:

Hi everyone. I need some help with English translation from Adûnaic, please.I’m trying to translate into English the following: “Bârî ‘n îdô nêd"It’s part of “The Revelation of the Ringwraiths” lyrics, in LOTR soundtrack.I know the seperate words: Bârî – ‘the Lords’; îdô – ‘now’; nêd – ‘for ourselves’. But I can’t give a sense to it as a complete sentence, “The Lords now for ourselves”?It doesn’t sound good and I can’t think of anything. I’ve checked everywhere I could but I can’t find anything. I’m working on my videos taking as main sources Magpie’s site, Elvish.org and LOTR Linguistic Soundtrack Textbook. However, I can’t find this sentence in english. Only the seperate words, mentioned above, because they are used in the Ringwraiths theme. I checked on TheOneRing.net as well, but nothing. To give some context, the lyrics in “A Knife in the Dark” are as follows;Nêtab~ dâur~ (from: Nêtabdam dâurad)(We cling~to the darkness)Nêbâbîtham ma~gâna~Katha~ (from: Nêbâbîtham magânanê Katharâd)(We deny~our Creator~Eternal Life) I don’t like this one much tbh, but that’s what it is.Bârî ‘n îdô nêd……..???Note that the lyrics are sung as partial words in this piece. The complete lyrics as sung in other pieces of the soundtrack, are the following:Nêbâbîtham Magânanê(We deny our Creator)Nêtabdam dâur-ad(We cling to the darkness)Nêpâm nêd abârat-aglar(We grasp for ourselves power and glory)îdô Nidir nênâkham(Now we come, the Nine)Bârî’n Katharâd(Lords of Eternal Life)Thank you for any assistance.
